Our solid-state relay range consists of HEXFET® Power MOSFET and IGBT output photovoltaic relays plus photovoltaic isolators that give designers the flexibility to create their own relays.
The solid state relays (SSRs) are on/off remotely controlled switches with complete galvanic isolation from input to output. No power supply is needed on the output. Using a relay allows for low-power control (e.g. from a microprocessor) over a high-power signal (e.g. switching of AC and DC loads) while providing galvanic isolation between the logic part of the circuitry and high power signals. This isolation provides users with protection from electrical shocks and protects electronics (e.g. microprocessors) from damage from high-voltage spikes.
Solid state relays are divided into two main sub-groups:
PVI – Isolator for solar panels
Our photovoltaic isolators (PVI) offer single- and dual-channel, optically isolated outputs that can be used for directly driving the gates of discrete power MOSFETs and/or IGBTs. This range of devices gives designers the flexibility to create custom solid-state relays capable of controlling loads in excess of 1000 V and 100 A.
The PVI series photo-voltaic isolators employ fast turn-off cicuitry. No power supply is needed on the output side unlike conventional MOSFET or IGBT drivers. The dual channel PVI can drive independent discrete power MOSFETs or provide higher voltage drive for IGBTs.
Details
The PVI utilizes a monolithic integrated circuit photovoltaic generator as its output. The output is controlled by radiation from a GaAlAs light emitting diode (LED), which is optically isolated from the photovoltaic generator. The PVI series is ideally suited for applications requiring high-current and/or high voltage switching with optical isolation between the low-level driving circuitry and high-energy or high- voltage load circuits. It can be used for directly driving the gates of power MOSFETs. The dual channel PVI can drive independent discrete power MOSFETs or higher voltage drive for IGBTs. The PVI series photovoltaic isolators employ fast turn-off circuitry. No power supply is needed on the output side unlike conventional MOSFET or IGBT drivers.

Our photovoltaic relays (PVR) are remotely controlled switches (on/off) with complete galvanic isolation from input to output. No power supply is needed on the output.
The operating parameters of PVRs are ideal for switching low-level signal loads in instrumentation and data acquisition to medium power loads in industrial controls and process automation, i.e. from microvolts and microamps to 400V (AC peak or DC) and up to 6.0A of load current at a contact resistance as low as 15 milliohms. PVRs utilize our power MOSFETs or IGBTs as the output switches, driven by an integrated circuit photovoltaic generator. The output switch is controlled by radiation from a GaAlAs light emitting diode (LED), which is optically isolated from the photovoltaic generator. This isolation provides users with protection from electrical shocks and protects electronics (such as microprocessors) from damage from high-voltage spikes.
