CIPURSE™ products

Tailor-made and ready-to-use products supporting CIPURSE™ standard
Transport authorities the world over are keen to increase efficiency and performance. Interoperability problems will become more pronounced and costly as the demand for multi-application cards with contactless functionality rises. Open, international standards such as CIPURSE™ are the best way to ensure interoperability across secured, cost-effective and flexible multi-applications schemes supporting fare collection. Infineon is the world’s first supplier of a complete CIPURSE™-certified product portfolio for secured, contactless cards supporting and combining public transport ticketing, micro-payments, authentication and access.

All of our CIPURSE™-certified products offer secured, hardware-based storage of AES-128 keys enabling, 3-pass mutual authentication and secured communication. Commands and data can be secured using the CIPURSE™ cryptographic protocol, which provides inherent resistance to attacks like Differential Power Analyses (DPA). The effectiveness of this protocol was acknowledged in 2012 through the German IT Security Award. In addition, our CIPURSE™-certified products are ideal for NFC applications running on standard infrastructures compliant with the NFC Forum Type 4 Tag Technical Specification.

Optimized for personal and object identification
Infineon’s my-d™ products are available in plain mode with open memory access and in secure mode with memory access controlled by authentication procedures. Architectural interoperability of my-d™ products enables an easy migration from simple to more demanding applications.

Flexible controls within the my-d™ devices start with plain mode operation featuring individual page locking; for more complex applications various settings in secure mode can be set for multi user / multi application configurations. In plain mode access to the memory is supported by 4-byte block as well as 8-byte page structure. In secure mode a cryptographic algorithm based on a 64-bit key is available. Mutual authentication, message authentication codes (MAC) and customized access conditions protect the memory against unauthorized access. Configurable Value Counters featuring anti-tearing functionality are suitable for value token applications, such as limited use transportation tickets.

NFC Solutions

Secured, intuitive experiences with Infineon’s NFC solutions
Near field communication (NFC) tags (also referred as NFC sticker tag or NFC smart labels) are a short-range RF technology that use a base frequency of 13.56 MHz. It is a standards-based, secure contactless communication technology that enables devices that are close to each other to exchange data with just a tap. Today, NFC is enabled in a billion-plus smartphones and are natively supported by smartphone OS platforms such as iOS and Android. This massive device adoption coupled with ease of use has fueled widespread deployment of near field communication tags in a number of commercial and consumer applications.

Infineon is a leader in the delivery of NFC-enabled secured, contactless solutions for payment, ticketing, and identification applications. In order to help customers easily embed NFC into their applications, Infineon offers NFC Forum compliant tags integrating best-in-class security in a variety of form factors.

NFC tag products

There are two different NFC tag products available from Infineon: plain and secured NFC tags. Both offer customizable solutions and can be adapted to meet individual product requirements.

Secured NFC Tags

Infineon secured NFC tags store user data in standardized NFC data exchange format (NDEF) to allow for contactless identification processes, customer engagement applications, and the secure authentication of products and accessories. Applications can be customized and built by the user to ensure product compatibility with near field communication enabled Android and iOS smartphones.

Secured NFC smart tags are built around the CIPURSE™ open-standard security architecture, which is based on robust cryptography. This ensures for attack-resistant communication between the initiator and the target tag, thus making it difficult for counterfeiting or cloning tags.

Plain NFC Tags

Due to their low cost and small footprint, plain NFC smart tags from Infineon can be conveniently used to embed near field communication into mass market consumer goods and applications. NFC contactless tags can be used to create an interactive and engaging experience for consumers with the simple tap of their smartphone.

The Infineon NFC chip used in plain NFC tags can be uniquely configured by the user to allow for full product compatibility. Plain NFC solutions can be used with open memory access or password protected access which is controlled by authentication procedures. Non-secure NFC tags offer a rewritable memory for simple reconfiguration, or they can be locked to prevent further changes. They also offer a unique serial number and anti-tearing support.
