Infineon’s ISOFACE™ are highly reliable industrial interface ICs with integrated isolation that can improve reliability by 5-times and cut the product launch time of industrial automation systems by 50 percent. Isolated industrial interface ICs are divided into two subcategories: The ISOFACE™ output switches and the ISOFACE™ digital input ICs

Infineon’s galvanically isolated 8-channel ISOFACE™ output switches can be used to drive any kind of resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads. Each of the switch outputs is fully short-circuit proof and overtemperature protected, which is another aspect underscoring the extreme ruggedness of the ISOFACE™ output switches. The level of functional integration by Infineon’s ISOFACE™ output switches improves system stability and reliability significantly and reduces consumed PCB area drastically.

Infineon’s ISOFACE™ digital input ICs are an intelligent system solution offering robust galvanic isolation between the µC on the control side and the 24V factory floor environment, frequently referred to as the “process side”. They can be directly connected to digital inputs like sensors or switches and to microcontroller or Bus-ASIC. Compared to alternative solutions, ISOFACE™ digital input ICs enable up to four times more channels on the same PCB area. A robust galvanic isolation is integrated. This high level of integration density combined with the low power consumption is a key enabler for highly compact industrial control products.

Ready for harsh environments

Factory automation systems have to meet IEC 61131-4 requirements both in terms of input and output characteristics, as well as in isolation robustness (EN 61010-1). Most of these systems are deployed in very harsh environments and therefore have to withstand extreme EMI disturbances (surge, burst, RF) according to IEC 61000-4. Infineon’s ISOFACE™ isolated industrial interface ICs are prepared for designs, which are exposed to EMI disturbances at system-level.

ISOFACE™ Output Switches

Galvanically isolated 8-channel output switches ISO1H801G, ISO1H811G, ISO1H812G, ISO1H815G, ISO1H816G, ISO2H823V
The ISO1H81xG product family integrates:

  • Robust galvanic isolation (UL508 and EN 61131-2 certified) to protect the 3.3V/5V control domain of an industrial control system from the harsh 24V process side
  • 8-channel high-side power-switching capabilities of up to 1.2A per channel
  • Active current limitation and over temperature protection
  • Common diagnostic feedback for over temperature and for Vbb under-voltage.

The ISO1H81xG family offers parallel and serial 3.3V/5V µC-interfaces, facilitating straight forward connection with virtually any µC, µP, ASIC or FPGA. The ISO1H81xG products enable OEM-product designs which meet the stringent EMI requirements of the IEC 61131-2 norm (zone C) applicable for Programmable Logical Controllers (PLC).
