Infineon’s family of multichannel SPI switches and controllers support a wide range of automotive and industrial applications. From highly integrated multichannel SPI drivers for low current loads to a multichannel SPI controller designed to drive a spectrum of loads for industrial utilization, Infineon enables extensive scalability, and advanced diagnostics.

Infineon’s SPIDER products include multichannel SPI drivers for low current loads such as LEDs, low-power bulbs, and stepper motors, providing a range of channels and configuration options. The SPIDER+ family introduces enhanced performance with increased configuration capability and new channel partitionings, as well as features. The SPIDER and SPIDER+ families are highly scalable in regards to PWM inputs and current capability while decreasing redesign costs due to their high modularity.

The FLEX family combines full channel scalability and innovative edge technology in multichannel low-side switches. Built for a range of automotive and industrial applications and components that have varying loads, FLEX SPI switches have integrated protection features and advanced diagnostics for exceptional functionality.

SPOC™ +2 is the latest generation of highly integrated multichannel serial interface power controllers for automotive and industrial applications providing state-of-the-art diagnostic and protection features. It offers high flexibility with configurable features like slew rate control and intelligent restart strategy to support power distribution architectures. Furthermore, the SPI interface allows to connect multiple devices via daisy-chain configuration to reduce the amount of GPIOs and contribute to save board space.

Thanks to its full family approach and high flexibility, the SPOC™ +2 target applications are body control modules (BCM), power distribution units (PDU, PDC) and load switching in zonal architectures. Additionally, the available ISO 26262-ready Safety Application Note (SAN) supports functional safety.

Multichannel SPI switches & controller product portfolio

SPIDER

SPIDER products are high-integrated multichannel SPI relay drivers for low current loads, such as solenoids, LEDs, low-power bulbs, and stepper motors. SPIDER devices are designed to be used in automotive and industrial applications with dedicated feature sets. The SPIDER SPI driver IC family (TLE72x) consists of 4- and 8- channel low-side and 8- channel low-side/ high-side drivers with 2 configurable channels. The output stages are controlled via an SPI Interface chip. The new SPIDER+ family (TLE75x) offers improved performance, higher flexibility (up to 6 configurable channels), and new channel partitionings (e.g. 8- channel high-side driver) vs. SPIDER.

Control is possible via standard SPI bus interface and 3.3 V or 5 V compatible logic. To ensure highest functional safety, all 9 devices have a failsafe (Limp Home) and cranking function implemented. A unique LED- derivate, available for high-side and flexible devices, provides additional features for LED and low-power bulb drive. All devices have small 150 mil packages (exposed pad).

FLEX

FLEX is Infineon´s multichannel SPI low-side power switch family for automotive powertrain, safety, and industrial applications. They are specially designed to drive a various range of loads from relays, injector valves, oxygen probe heaters and general-purpose solenoids, up to uni-polar stepper motors. The FLEX family of SPI switch ICs has extensive scalability from 4 to 18 channels.

SPOC™ +2

SPOC™ +2 is the latest generation of multichannel smart high-side power controllers for automotive and industrial applications. Control, configuration, and diagnostics are carried out via SPI interface. These SPI controller chips offer four and six channel devices (from 5.5 mΩ to 70 mΩ) in PG-TSDSO-24 exposed pad package and provide state of the art diagnostics and protection features. Body control modules (BCM), in-car ECUs like junction boxes or fuse and relay boxes now start to become increasingly complex, therefore the flexibility of SPOC™ +2 with a number of new features is the right solution.

Infineon’s comprehensive portfolio of multichannel SPI switches and controllers are designed for a range of automotive and industrial applications. In addition, SPI drivers enable extensive diagnosis throughout the whole path from microcontroller to loads.

SPIDER and SPIDER+ products offer high design flexibility making them ideal for automotive and industrial relays and solenoids.

The FLEX product family of SPI low-side power switches are flexible solutions for powertrain protection and industrial applications. Advanced safety and diagnostic features allow the SPI switch IC to detect faults and react on system-level diagnostic functions. The combination of these features makes the FLEX product family ideal for automatic transmission and diesel engine management applications, direct and port gasoline injection, and suspension control.

Finally, the SPOC™ +2 multichannel high-side power controllers are suitable for resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads, can drive high inrush current loads like lamps or LED modules and can replace relays, fuses, and discrete circuits.
